About the Artists
Thomas Kinkade began his career by investing his life’s savings into a lithograph. Already an acclaimed illustrator, Thom was inspired by painting images and natural wonders that moved him rather than motivated by hopes of fame or fortune. It was this passion and dedication to Sharing the Light that enabled a simple boy from Placerville, California to become the most collected living artist of his time.
Thomas Kinkade loved to share his joy and support hospitals, schools, and humanitarian efforts with his paints. Thom is driven by a profound belief that painting is not just an accessory, but a ministry that will continue on as his legacy. Because of this passionate purpose, he has created custom images that were sold to support Hurricane Katrina Relief, The Salvation Army, and Rotary International. He has also donated paintings to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, The Vatican, The White House, and Britain’s Tate Museum. Throughout his life, Thomas Kinkade raised thousands of dollars for charity.
A loving and devoted family man, Thom displayed his love for his wife and family within many of his paintings. The letter N, or the number 5282 stand for his wife Nanette and their wedding date; May 2, 1982. His four daughters are also immortalized in his paintings and each one inspired a painting at her birth: Chandler’s Cottage, Winsor Manor, Everett’s Cottage, and Evening at Merritt’s Cottage.
